She never told him her real name.
And he never asked.
That was the beauty of it.
Their ritual was written in silence
a fragrance left on the collar,
a lipstick smudge on the espresso glass,
the faint scent of something sinful tucked in his overnight bag.
He said he was in town for a conference.
